She grew up around Sigourney. Joan married LaVern Roy (Bud) Grimm on January 6, 1950, at the Pleasant Grove Brethren Church near North English. They made their home in Thornburg before moving to Millersburg in 1962. Joan worked as a farm-wife and a school bus driver . She and Bud owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn in Millersburg for several years. She later worked 12 years in housekeeping at the University of Iowa Hospitals, retiring in 1995. Joan was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church. She was a loving and caring mother, a care-giver for many years to her parents and father-in-law, an avid sports fan, and was well known for her cooking skills. She is survived by daughters: Sharon Hopwood and husband Roger of Guernsey, IA; Diane Shaffer and husband Steve of Deep River, IA; Amy Leer and husband Leroy of What Cheer, IA; a son Clifford Grimm of Millersburg, IA; 10 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; a brother Larry Clubb of South English, IA; and sisters: Peggy Derby of Richland, IA and Doris Owings of DeWitt, IA. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Rodney, Russell, Roger, Gordon and Forrest Clubb, sisters Allegra Cooney and Margaret Teeter. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Millersburg United Methodist Church, Millersburg, IA with Pastor Ben Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Powell Funeral Home in North English, IA on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
