Velma Grace Threlkeld March 18, 1925 - May 13, 2011 Wellman, Iowa Visitation: 4-7 p.m. May 17, 2011 at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home, Kalona Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. May 18, 2011 at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home, Kalona Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. May 19, 2011 at Forrest Cemetery, Oskaloosa Velma Grace Cozart Threlkeld was born March 18, 1925 in Olin, Iowa the daughter of Clarence Albert and Emma Olive (Sweitzer) Cozart. She graduated from Olin High School in 1943. She worked at a grocery store in Oskaloosa where she met Melvyn Lealdes Threlkeld, they were united in marriage on July 25, 1950. They farmed in Mahaska and Iowa counties. She has lived in rural Wellman since 1966. Velma worked at Oral B for twenty years retiring in 1987. She then worked part-time at various jobs. Velma died suddenly on Friday, May 13, 2011 at her home in rural Wellman at the age of 86 years. Velma is survived by three daughters - Barbara Threlkeld of Iowa City; Laurie Clayton of Spokane, WA; Virginia Threlkeld Larsen of Hedrick; two son's - Danny Threlkeld of Wellman; Richard Threlkeld of Iowa City; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister Helen Lund of Clarence. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Pastor Martha Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the Forrest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home. A general memorial fund has been established.
