Plank was born May 3, 1952 in Washington, Iowa, the son of David and Faith (Wilkins) Plank. On January 3, 1975 he was united in marriage to Sandy Ross, they later divorced. He has lived in the Wellman community all of his life. He worked at Payless Cashways for 25 years and then at Gilcrest Jewett Lumber for five 5 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Fred died on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 60 years. Fred is survived by a daughter Tami (David) Edwards of Riverside; a son Derik (Shelly) Plank of Riverside; 4 grandchildren; Kaitlyn Redden, Sandra Edwards, Addison and Corbin Plank; his mother Faith Plank of Wellman; a sister Sandra (Charles) Klopp of Wellman; 4 brothers; Larry (Karen) of Kalona, Greg of Wellman, Jay of Wellman, and Justin Plank of North English; a sister-in-law Sharon Plank of Iowa City; and many nieces and nephews. anddaughter Chloe Jean Plank; and a brother Bill "Willie" Plank. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Chaplain Carroll Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A general memorial fund has been established.
