Doris R. Vaughn

Doris R. Vaughn, 75 of Indianapolis, departed this life Saturday, June 10, 2017. She was born February 22, 1942 in Hampton, VA to the late Maj. Charles D. and Margaret E. (Mitchell) Roberts. Doris earned her nursing degree from St. Petersburg Junior College and then furthered her studies in anesthesiology nursing at Norfolk General Hospital. She worked for many years at Putnam County Hospital and Hendricks Regional Hospital. Doris dedicated her life to helping others. She was a volunteer and administrator for the American Heart Association and spent many hours volunteering her knowledge and skill at the Johnson Nichols Health Clinic. She was happiest preparing a meal for family and friends, working in her garden, crocheting, and working with ceramics and pottery. Doris was preceded in death by her dear sister, Suzanne Seabrooke. She is survived by her devoted children, Shelly (Jonathan) Horin, Heather (Brian) Whalen, Croft Vaughn and Maegan (Adam) Parks; grateful grandchildren, Emily Holbrook, Andrew Horin and Marlaya and Adam Parks, Jr. as well as a host of appreciative patients, extended family and friends.
