Boulder, Colorado resident Valera Randall died peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Louisville, Colorado.
She was born Valera Jo Kehn on the family farm in Major county (Ringwood) Oklahoma, on November 11, 1928 in a Mennonite community. Valera and her sister Obera were Helena High School Basketball stars and played in the Kansas state championship. Val graduated from Helena High School in 1947. She learned banking in Helena prior to moving to Enid Oklahoma where she took a position at the First National Bank. The daughter of Clyde Kehn and Susie Kehn, Val had two sisters, Wynona, and her twin Obera. She stayed in Enid until the age of twenty-one, when she met Bruce Carlton Randall while he was stationed in the Army Air Corps. On March 11, 1950, Valera and Bruce married. After marring, Valera, Val as she preferred, embraced a zest for travel, even as her family grew. During his service, Val and Bruce crisscrossed the United States and Europe all while raising 5 children, then gaining a sixth when they settled in Boulder Colorado. erica via RV and cruise ships, and managing to take along grandchildren at times. Their love of Alaska led them to serve as camp hosts, generating many great stories of fellow campers and wildlife encounters. Val was a loving wife and caring mother, watching over her children and grandchildren throughout their lives. She showed the true definition of unconditional love She was a working mom, maintaining a position at Neo Data in the subscription processing department until her retirement in the 1990's. Preceding her in death were two infant sons, her sister Obera Ging and her brother Clayton Kehn .
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Bruce, of Boulder, CO, her children; Mike Randall and his wife Julie of Sacramento, CA, Pat Randall and his wife Karen of Thousand Oaks, CA, Mark Randall and his wife Misha of Seattle, WA, Scott Randall and his wife Karen of Westminster, CO Ann Szeligowski and her husband Paul of Niwot, CO, and Richard Randall of Boulder. She is survived by her grandchildren; Hanan Boyd and her husband Joe, Tarik Randall, Chris Randall and his wife Christina, Eric Randall, Lindsay Randall, Matthew Reed, Nicholas Szeligowski, Veronica Randall and Clair Ericson. Four great-grandchildren Cody Randall, Lilli Randall, Marron Boyd, and Ryhs Boyd. She is also survived by her sister Wynona Unruh of Great Bend, Kansas and many nieces nephews and cousins
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette.
Funeral service will be Monday, June 5 2017 at 11:00 AM, Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder.
