State Bill passed that would provide increased funds to the Special Education Program in South Texas. As Director of Special Education for the Weslaco Independent School District, Grace vastly improved program that over saw 18 schools and inspired local businesses to give her "special kids" small employment opportunities with pay as part of their money management education. Her passion was that every person be seen and treated as a valuable member of society, regardless of their circumstance. Her inspirational programs grew and thrived under her leadership. Grace was known for her joyous spirit and her giving nature. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church and La Santisima Trinidad Methodist Church in Weslaco where she and her husband Manuel become sponsors and mentors in the overall growth and development of the Church.
