A few of the organizations that benefited from her involvement were the Welcome Wagon as a hostess for six years, Meals on Wheels Board Member, Wa-Tan-Ye officer, BPW Member, Tuesday Club officer and member for 23 years, Order of the Eastern Star, the Rainbow Girls, and the Jackson County Public Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. While her children were growing up she had served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was a 40 plus year member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa where she had been active in the United Methodist Women and the church choir for over 20 years. Arlene enjoyed playing bridge, reading, biking (going on RAGBRAI twice), walking, hiking, music, movies, swimming and loving. She also enjoyed golfing and had been a member of the Maquoketa Country Club. Those left to honor Arlene's memory include her children, Rhonda (Gregg) Mohl of Clinton, IA, Kaye (Paul) Lynch of Audubon, IA, Robert (Jeannine) Abbott of Granville, OH, and Wesley (Denise) Abbott of Roswell, GA; sister, Wilma (Willie) Grove; 9 grandchildren, Megan and Courtney Mohl, Ryan (Amanda) and Brittney Lynch, Burke and Ellie Abbott, Piper and Charlie Tell, and Archer Abbott; and 1 great-grandchild, Madeline Lynch. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jack Redeker, her husband Robert, and her husband Donald.
