Kenneth "Ken the Old Roofer" Duane Schmidt, age 87, of Muskegon, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Ken was born on March 7, 1930, to Julius and Evelyn (Nathe) Schmidt in Minneapolis, MN. Ken was the owner and operator of Schmidt Roofing Company since 1953. He was a devout Christian and an avid reader. On October 21, 1947 he married the love of his life, the former Rosemary Bueckers, in Waukesha WI. Together they were blessed with two sons. Ken is survived by his wife, Rosemary, son, Kenneth "Kim" Schmidt, sisters; Marlys Bredeck, Lilamae (Robert) Tschida and sister-in-law, Shirley Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Schmidt, and his brother, Leslie Schmidt. Per Ken's wishes, there will be no services.
