erson, IA, then bought his own semi and trailer and drove for K & G Transportation. He then drove a shuttle for Abbott Airport Parking; even driving Warren Buffett around once. Roger had a delivery route in Southeast Nebraska for a while for Farner-Bocken, a convenience food service products distributor. He then drove semi, hauling grain for Doug Bowen, and lastly had been working for BK Spraying.
Roger and Donette Dee Cashatt were married in 1975 and were blessed with a son Shane. The couple later divorced.
Roger and Julie Ann (Bird) Parks were married on July 6, 1985 in Malvern, Iowa. The family grew to include his son Shane and her daughter Jessica. The couple were later blessed with two sons, Brandon and Christopher.
Roger loved going to casinos, watch westerns and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. He loved listening to music and never met a jukebox he didn't like. He loved entertaining for his family and friends and was known for joking, kidding around and telling stories. He could be just a little ornery at times but had such a generous heart and was always there for his family, grand kids and friends. As an avid Minnesota Twins fan, Roger cheered for them loudly. He also enjoyed watching other various college and pro sports, boat races at the Ozarks, and playing pool or golf. He loved a good glass of Crown Royal and had the biggest sweet tooth around. Roger loved spoiling his grandkids, who knew they would get candy or pop whenever they visited. He also would whisper "I love you" when someone is sleeping and loved to tuck them into bed.
Roger and his wife Julie were true soulmates. They did everything together. He loved his wife, kids and grandkids tremendously; they were his pride and joy. Roger was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and cousin, and a good friend to all who knew him.
Roger suffered a heart attack and unexpectedly passed away on June 25, 2017 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 62 years, 5 months, and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Anne; and his brother Philip Smith.
Roger is survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Julie Smith of Malvern; children, Shane Peck and Teri Price, Jessica Wiese, Brandon Smith and Jessica Whetsel, and Christopher Smith and Jamie Flora; grandkids, Annika, Addison, Ryne, Callan, Rodney, Nathan, Jasmine and Chase; two brothers and two sisters and their families; many extended relatives; and a host of friends.
