Fern Mae Becker

Fern Mae Becker, 85, of Zearing went home to her Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Mary Greeley Hospital with her loving family by her side. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Zearing on Friday, June 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Hubbard with Pastor Rueger officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Hubbard Cemetery. Fern Mae Becker was born on June 2, 1930 in State Center to Edgar and Florence (Thake) Riese. Fern attended country school and St. John's parochial school near State Center and then graduated from State Center High School in 1947. After working in town and then on a farm she married Hillis Karl Becker on April 8, 1956. Fern worked alongside her husband in the family owned business Zearing Plumbing & Heating for many years in Zearing, IA. Upon retiring from the business in 1985, Fern helped to farm the family's acreage near Hubbard. enjoyed being outside working on the farm and going fishing. Besides her faith, Fern will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for her delicious cooking especially her yummy chocolate chip cookies and mashed potatoes. Left to cherish all the memories of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister are her sons Robert of Zearing and James (Shonna) of Tipton, grandchildren Bradlee (Tonya) Becker of Huxley, Michael (Jill) Becker of Waterloo, Andrew (Holly) Becker of Altoona, Sarah, Mark and Luke Becker of Tipton, great-grandchildren Parker, Dillon, Kale, Maddux and Mckenna Becker and sister Lorinda Pfantz of State Center. Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Darwin, and husband, Hillis. Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Zearing has been entrusted with the care of Fern and her family.
