volunteer for many years with the Iowa Special Olympics and the Iowa Games. She loved gardening, reading, traveling and sharing her kringla with her family and friends. Lillian is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Jim) Hart of Clarksville, Maryland and Deborah (Darrel) Severson of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; two sons, Michael (Carolyn) Chelsvig of Nashville, Tennessee and Richard Chelsvig of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Christine (Mark) Prendergast, Timothy (Jennifer) Hart, Megan Hart, Jonathan Hart, Joshua Severson, Jenna Severson, Shannon Chelsvig, Nicolas Chelsvig, and Kallie Chelsvig; four great-grandchildren, Kigan Prendergast, Karigan Prendergast, Ellis Hart, and Josilynn Hart; two sisters, Colleen Gochanour of Cumberland, Wisconsin and Norma (Wayne) Dudley of Parkersburg, Iowa; brother Dr. Robert (Dr. Christine) Johnson of Claremont, California; sister-in-laws Geneva Chelsvig of Ankeny, Iowa, and Gayle (Darrell) Harris of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church, 1517 Northwestern Ave., Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Bethesda. Interment will be at the Roland Cemetery.
