Martin "Marty" Howard De Jong, 50, of Baxter, passed away on November 5, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. A memorial visitation will be on November 12th from 5-7pm at the Fredregill Family F.H. in Baxter. Memorial Services will be at 1pm on Saturday November 13, 2010 at the Baxter Masonic Lodge, on main street in Baxter, with Pastor Rollin Watters officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Marty was born on February 8, 1960 to Shirley (Eddy) and Darrel De Jong and lived in Baxter all of his life. He graduated from Baxter High School in 1978. He then worked locally in the area farming and working construction. Marty was very active in life and he enjoyed many different hobbies. Most important to him were: fur trapping, farming, riding dirt bikes, watching NASCAR races to support his favorite drivers; Dale Jarret and Bill Elliot, and woodworking.
Those left to honor Marty's memory include his partner; Kitty Ferguson of Baxter, two sisters; Vicki (Mark) De Kock of Colfax, and Nancy (Bob) Derichs of Des Moines, one brother; Jeff De Jong of Baxter, two nephews; Andrew De Kock and Ryan Derichs, and one niece; Tessa De Kock.
