Doris (Schneider) Phillips of South Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family following a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Services will be Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10:30am at Sunnybrook Community Church, 5601 Sunnybrook Dr., Sioux City, IA. Internment will be at Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, NE. Visitation will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm, with the family present at 6:00pm, and a prayer service at 7:00pm on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Doris Marie Schneider, daughter of Ben and Harriett Schneider was born on September 28, 1937 in Lyons, NE. The family lived in Rosalie, NE where she attended Rosalie Public School, graduating with the Class of 1955. Following graduation she attended Wayne State College and taught rural school for one year before returning to Wayne to complete her degree in education. Doris was united in marriage to Van Phillips on March 1, 1957. To this union was born 3 children, Dawnelle Rohde (Paul), Kristy Cunningham (John) and Brent Phillips (Jennifer). ing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. She was also a dedicated elementary teacher. Doris is survived by her husband, Van Phillips; 2 daughters, Dawnelle Rohde (Paul) and Kristy Cunningham (John); son, Brent Phillips (Jennifer); 6 grandchildren, Dr. Phillip Rohde, Shane Rohde (Ranelle), Colby Rohde (Cleary), Nicholas Phillips, Vincent Phillips, and Jack Cunningham; and great-grandson, Bentley Rohde. Her parents, Ben and Harriet Schneider preceded her in death. The family appreciates the many thoughts and prayers; while we are saddened by our loss, we are thankful that she was surrounded by the love of her family and friends. We are filled with joy knowing that she's comfortable now in the presence of her Loving Heavenly Father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Siouxland or Sunnybrook Community Church.
