Sarah J. Garrett

Sarah Jeanne Garrett, 86, previously of Columbus, OH, currently of Davenport, passed away Friday, July 7th, 2017 at her home, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. Per her request, there will be no formal services. There will be a private celebration of life, for the family on Saturday, July 15th. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice, Davenport. Sarah was born on January 30th, 1931 to Thomas Evans and Cornelia Annette Brial Lewis. Her father immigrated from Aberaeron, Cardiganshire, Wales and she and her siblings were first generation Americans, therefore, she was very proud of her Welsh heritage. She was also proud of her father and Uncle John who in Columbus, ran the oldest running law practice. After graduation from Central High School, Columbus, she married Nelson Lee Garrett and had four children. She worked at Chemical Abstracts in Columbus. In 1967, the family moved to Davenport. Sarah later graduated from Scott Community College with an Associate Degree in Computer Programming and then worked for the IT Department at the City of Davenport for 19 years.
