Dr. Robert M. Baker, 72, a Ft. Lauderdale radiologist, passed away Sunday, August 13. The cause of death was heart failure, a condition he bravely fought for 12 years. Renowned for his skill at interventional radiology, Robert joined Broward Health in 1977. Earlier, he graduated from the University of South Carolina College of Medicine in 1971 and was a fellow at the University of California San Diego. Robert was born in Bethune, S.C., one of five children. He liked beautiful women, fast cars, and big boats. He also enjoyed traveling and scuba diving. Friends and family knew him for his zany sense of humor and love of family, American military history, and especially South Carolina football.
