r his discharge he began a lifelong career working on high power lines and eventually became a journeyman lineman. He was affiliated with the IBEW. Robert was a tough man. During work he sustained an accident falling over 70 feet to the ground and was injured badly. Within the same year, he was back climbing towers and working again. Robert loved to travel and has visited all 50 states. Robert met Mildred Clausi at a dance hall in Des Moines, Iowa. They were united in marriage on July 19, 1971. The couple lived in many parts of the United States. Before moving to Knoxville in 2006, they had lived in Enterprise, Oregon for 16 years. Bob and Mildred enjoyed traveling, boating and fishing. Bob also enjoyed cross country skiing, an activity he took up in his 70's. Bob was proud of his physical fitness and ability to stay trim and fit, unafraid to tell his own family when their own physical appearance didn't suit him. Mildred passed away on March 23, 2012 at the Westridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Knoxville at the age of 91 years. Bob remained out on Coal Ridge Road until his health declined and passed away on March 29, 2017 at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the advanced age of 95 years. Those left to cherish his memory include step son-in-law, John Elbert; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great- great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Dorothy McGinnis; and other relatives and friends, bob enjoyed bragging about his wonderful neighbors. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mildred, his parents; step daughter Shirley Elbert, step son, Anthony Clausi, Jr., step son Al Joseph Clausi and his brother Donald Suker.
