Allen Johnson, age 79 of Iowa Falls, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 27th at the United Methodist Church in Alden with burial in the Jackson Township Cemetery, rural Owasa. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Allen Ray Johnson was born on July 31, 1937 in Dunlap, Iowa, the son of Wilmer and Josephine (Anderson) Johnson. He graduated from the Popejoy Community High School and served 6 years in the National Guard. On September 1, 1957 Allen was united in marriage to Maryln Paswalk at the Berlin Church. While working in Davenport for 4 years he learned to become an electrician which was very helpful during his 57 years as a devoted grain farmer. He was so proud to have his two sons join him in the farming operation plus now helping his grandson get started farming. Allen was an avid reader, keeping up on all the current events and a yearlong sports fan (especially the Chicago Cubs) and also enjoyed listening to country organ music and vacationing in Branson, Missouri. ids on any project on the farm and following all their school activities especially band, athletic, and coaching events. Allen was especially looking forward to celebrating with his very special wife their 60th wedding anniversary this September 1st.
Allen is survived by his wife, Maryln; brother, Jerry (Patty) Johnson of Coralville, Iowa; brother, Marlin (Paulette) Johnson of Fort Collins, Colorado; son, Lynn Johnson and son, Kevin (Jennifer) Johnson of Iowa Falls; grandson, Colin (April) Johnson of Eldora, Iowa; grandson, Dylan Johnson of Iowa Falls; granddaughter, Kelsey (Joe) Patava of Norwalk, Iowa; grandson, Luke Erbes of Cedar Falls, Iowa; great-grandson, Dallas Patava of Norwalk, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Josephine Johnson.
