Verdeen was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughter. She spent many hours crocheting afghans and making elaborate framed cross stitched pictures for her home. She liked to bake and her pies and crust were always perfect. For her children's birthdays, Verdeen would make amazing cake shapes. She often spent evenings reading historical fiction or finishing difficult Word Find puzzles.
Verdeen Knox is survived by her husband, Gary Knox of Iowa Falls, Iowa; daughters, Kristin (Brian) Hagedon of Eldora, Iowa and Karen (Wade) Brandt of Ogden, Iowa; a son, Kevin (Tiffany) Knox of Peoria, IL; grandchildren: Matt Hagedon, Sarah Hagedon, Jacob Knox, Jonah Knox, Madison Brandt, William Brandt, Dara Brandt and Justin Brandt; sisters, Linda (Jerry) Meling of Gilman, Iowa, Nancy (Vern) Houseman of Lake Park, GA, Jana Ranieri of Madrid, Iowa and Barbara Anderson of Kellogg, Iowa; brothers, Roger (Donna) Rieck of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Mike (Laurie) Rieck of Madrid, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lorenz Rieck, Jr.
