raduation, Harold served in the U.S. Navy, during WWII, spending most of his time in the Pacific. Harold returned in 1946. On November 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Rose Wohn at Corpus Christi Church and the couple made their home in Duncombe. For 10 years, Harold ran a gas station in Duncombe and drove school bus for the Duncombe School System. In 1955, the family moved to a farm near Manson. Harold farmed for 50 plus years for which he had a great passion. From the early 1960's to the middle 1970's, Harold did custom spraying for farmers in Webster and Calhoun County. In 1975, Harold and Rose moved to Fort Dodge. He enjoyed golfing and discussing all things related to farming.
