Leonila "Nanay Leony" Perez, age 81, of Manchester died peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at home. Born in Leyte, Philippines, she came to the United States in 2001, settling in Toms River in 2002. She has lived in Manchester, New Jersey since 2016.
Nanay Leony was a matron at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital in the Philippines for 35 years prior to retiring in 2001. She was a member of Jesus is Lord Fellowship Church, Toms River, where she joined the Prime Timers, a group of fellow Filipinos, for Bible study and where she forged close friendship among the congregants.
She is survived by her daughter, Wilma and her husband Pastor Nestor Arellano of Manchester; her grandson, Wilton P. Arellano of Jersey City; and her siblings, Inez De Los Santos, Maria Paz Dago, Catalina Borrello, Romeo Perez, Liberty Badique, and Premicias Perez.
Visitation and service will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3:00PM - 7:00PM at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Cremation will be private.
