m golf in 2017. He is fondly remembered for his stories of building Dixie from the ground up with his hands. Ray had an expert hand in woodworking and craftsmanship and took much joy in crafting different toys and furniture for his grandchild, Andrea, along with his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Ray also was an expert gardener and loved flowers of all types. He took pride each summer in growing peas, butterbeans, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, and turnips.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gertrude, and two brothers, Bobby Robinson, and Gene Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, and their son, Steve (Barbara). His surviving siblings include Bonnie Ratcliff, Iris Holloway, and Ronnie Robinson (Barbara). Ray has one grandchild, Andrea Robinson Walters (Justin) and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Ray Walters and Kaylin Elizabeth Walters. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He will always be forever loved and remembered by his surviving family members and long time friends.
Memory Chapel in Laurel is charge of arrangements for Ray. Services are to be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 with visitation beginning at 10:00a.m., and the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. Graveside and burial service will be at Union Line Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ray's nephews Jody Lowe of Oxford, Larry Robinson of Jackson, Mikey Robinson of Laurel, Greg Lowe of Laurel, Jeffrey Robinson of Petal, and Carl Frank Hill Jr. (Tut) of Laurel. Honorary pallbearers are Ray's long time golfing partners and close friends Charles Bryant of Laurel, Buddy Holifield of Laurel, Frank Deckert of Laurel, and Tom McClelland of Laurel.
