Boettcher Erik Richard

Erik Boettcher, 47, passed away on August 24, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2017, at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. The family will receive visitors, Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home. Erik was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 3, 1970, to Richard and Sharilynne (Hamlin) Boettcher. Family was most important to Erik and he always had time for friends. He enjoyed playing darts and liked visiting the Spam Museum. Erik was a kind and generous soul with a ridiculous sense of humor. He was much loved, will be missed by all, and was a blessing in the many lives he touched. His only living regret was that in the winter of 1984, his mother never took him to the movie "Night of the Comet," even though she had promised him that she would!
