Rochester-Funeral Services for Stanley J. Riess, age 75 who died at his family cabin in Wabasha on August 20, 2011 will be held at Trinity Lutheran church in Rochester on Wednesday, August 24th at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Joel Haak officiating.Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.Memorials are requested to the Eagles Cancer Telethon or Seasons Hospice.Visitation will be at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M and then at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service. Stanley was born April 6, 1936 to Julius and Mildred (Meyers) Riess.He attended Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Rochester High School in 1954.He married Darlene Schoonover, August 31, 1956 in Rochester.He worked for Kruse Lumber Company for 38 years.He then worked 5 years for Weis Builders until retiring. Stan was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.He was a long time member of the Eagles and volunteered at the Eagles Cancer Telethon.He was a social member of the American Legion.He enjoyed sports, the Twins, Vikings and Gophers.He played fast pitch and slow pitch softball.He coached Little League Baseball and girls softball and went t...[more]

ll his grand childrens and great grand childrens sporting events.He liked to play pool and he usually won.He enjoyed traveling to Mexico with family and friends, and going for daily walks.Stanley was an outstanding family man and caregiver and a great friend to any and all who knew him.He was a loving husband and will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years and all of his family and friends. Stanley is survived by his wife;Darlene.
