by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 1956, and served on their Board of Directors from 1978-1984, and the Residency Review Committee, 1973-1978. He was a member of The American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Neurological Society of America, Society of Neurological Surgeons and has held offices in each of these organizations, and several others. In 1977 Dr. Miller was inducted into the Oklahoma Heritage Hall of Fame.He also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from East Central State Universityin Ada, Oklahoma and was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame for tennis and basketball. He was an outstanding athlete his entire life, an extraordinary tennis player in his earlier years, and low-handicap golfer later in life. Dr. and Mrs. Miller retired to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 1983. In between golf games, he participated in the education of neurosurgical residents as clinical professor of neurosurgery at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, and the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, and as an Honorary Emeritus Staff Member at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville.Dr. and Mrs. Miller returned to live in Rochester in 1999. Surviving Dr. Miller are his wife of71 years, Catherine Railey Miller of Rochester, MN,son Terry Hays Miller (Helen) of Rochester anddaughter Helen Stacy Miller Labare (Dennis) of Oregon,grandchildren Katherine Rose Miller and Anthony Hays Miller (Laura),great- grandchildren Anna M. Waller and Amelia M. Waller, all of Rochester, and sister Carolyn Knapp of Satellite Beach, FL. Dr. Miller wasa resident of Charter House, Rochester, MN . A memorial service is to be held at 10:00am on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Charter House Chapel. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice in Dr. Millers name.
