Dr. Albert R. Abbott

Dr. Albert Al Riley Abbott, age 91 of Rochester passed away January 21, 2015 at Charter House in Rochester. Born October 20, 1923 in Lincoln, NE to Roscoe and Hazel (Gooden) Abbott. He graduated from Lincoln High School and later attended the University of Nebraska where he graduated with his Doctoral degree. He married Shirley Linc Lincoln in 1944 in Beatrice, NE. Al completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He worked at the McFarland Clinic in Ames IA as an Anesthesiologist. He retired in 1971on Lake Trelipe near Remer MN where he with many friends built his house that his son Roy designed. In the early 1990s Al and Linc moved to Charter House in Rochester. Al enjoyed wood working, playing the piano, gardening and reading. He is survived by his daughter in-law, Carolyn Abbott; grandchildren, April (RJ) Auburn, Sabra (Eric Gierzynski) Abbott; 3 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Lincoln and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Barbara Hyde and his two sons Roy and Eric Abbott. Memorial Service will be held at Charter House at 2:00 PM Saturday January 24, 2015.
