Paul L. Schmitter

ROCHESTER, MINN:Paul L. Schmitter, 82, died October 18, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus. Paul Lawrence Schmitter was born September 3, 1933 to Lawrence and Nelda (Fechtler) Schmitter in St. Louis, MO. Paul served in the Navy for four years in Honolulu, HI, where he met Mary Hanson and they married on May 1, 1954. Paul worked for IBM from September 1956 until his retirement in April 1990. Paul loved music. He played piano, danced, taught folk dancing and called square dancing with his wife Mary. Paul loved doing magic shows for his grandchildren and other audiences. He was a volunteer at SEMCIL. Paul is survived by his wife Mary Schmitter, Rochester, MN; his three sons, Steve (Denise) Schmitter, Virginia Beach, VA, David (Linda) Schmitter, Savage, MN and Todd (Elizabeth) Schmitter, Eagan, MN; fifteen grandchildren, Caleb, Christopher (Erin),Caty, Cameron, Cristina, Sydney, Bailey, Joshua (Elise), Daniel, Caroline, Paul, Emmanuel, and Lydia; his two sisters Jean Skaggs and Norma Beckmann of St. Louis, MO; also survived by many nieces and nephews. :30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 5500 25th Ave. N.W., Rochester, MN 55901 with Pastor Larry Orth officiating.
