Edward D. LaPointe, Jr.

Edward D. LaPointe, Jr. passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family.He was born July 29, 1927 and grew up in St. Paul, MN., was a proud Eagle Scout and graduated from Monroe H.S. in 1944.He served in the Coast Guard in 1945.Upon returning, he attended the University of MN., graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949.He met the love of his life, Laura Jorde, on a blind date at a Gophers basketball game and they married in 1949.He worked for GE on the East Coast and Graybar in Kansas City.Returning to MN., he worked for Kehne Electric as superintendent in a Kehne-Foster joint venture IBM project.He remained with Kehne Electric for 12 years, residing in Bloomington, MN, where he also acquired his private pilot licensure.He purchased Foster Electric in 1970 and was a member of the Rochester Rotary Club. In retirement he enjoyed time spent at their lake home on Lac Courte Oreilles, Hayward, WI. and winters in Fountain Hills, AZ.
