age, they lived one year in Cedar Rapids, IA and four years in Chelsea, IA before moving to Corwith in 1961.
Connie and Phil enjoyed traveling, taking seven trips to Europe from 1994 to 2001. Other trips included Alaska in 1995 and Hawaii in 2003 and 2008. When they were younger, they took many camping trips in the U.S. and Canada with the boys. They both also enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye basketball and football, where they were ticket takers at games from 2001 to 2010. Since Phil, her son Grant, grandson Steven, daughter in law Michelle, and grand daughter Mary were Barbershop & Sweet Adeline singers, she also attended many of their contests & shows throughout the U.S. and Canada. Other hobbies were reading, music & walking.
Connie was an elementary instructor for 34 years, teaching in Cedar Rapids 1956-57, Tama 1957-59, and Britt/West Hancock from 1969-2000. During these years, she earned additional credits from the University of Northern Iowa, University of South Dakota, Drake University, and Morningside College. Upon retirement, she continued to substitute teach until 2010.
She was active in the Corwith United Methodist Church serving at various times as Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and on Worship Committee, and as church finance secretary. She was the lay member to Annual Conference in Ames for several years.
She was a long time member of the church choir, and held various offices in the UMW organization and its circles. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and held several offices in Chelsea and Corwith, including Worthy Matron in both chapters. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, as well as the Pi Beta Phi social sorority at Simpson College.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Virgil & Helen Lembke; and Phil's parents, Roscoe & Olive Hunget.
Connie is survived by her husband Phil; son Todd of Mitchellville IA; Todd's daughter Keely and husband Nick, and their children Helen & Bruin, Broomfield CO; Todd's daughter Carly and husband Wylie, and their children Owen & Reece, Cedar Rapids IA; son Grant and wife Michelle, Olathe KS, and their children Steven Duncan, San Clemente CA, and daughter Mary Duncan, Lawrence KS.
