Ruth Welch, of Sarsaota, FL, passeda way on Septemeber 3, 2017.
Ruth Welch, 84, a 22-year Resident of Sarasota, Fl., died September 3, 2017 at her home.
Born in 1933 in Antigo, WI., Ruth received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York. Ruth worked as an emergency and surgical nurse including serving in the burn unit for many years.
Ruth later taught Nursing at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York and then served as a private duty nurse. She eventually moved into executive leadership in managed health care within the insurance industry for several years before retiring.
Ruth was a gourmet cook and passed that gift to her sons and grandchildren.
She loved socializing with friends from Wisconsin to New York and Boston to Sarasota.
She enjoyed going to Broadway plays and traveling with her husband Bill to their favorite destination Hawaii, which they visited many times.
Ruth had a servant's heart and gave generously of herself to everyone who knew her. She had an infectious laugh and a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She served on several committees in her community and served as President of two Women's Clubs in Sarasota coordinating many events.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Bill, her sons, Tom, Joe and Dan, and four grandchildren as well as Bill's three-children, Dave, Joanna and Chris and three grandchildren.
