Mary June Gillette, 95, died at 1:13 PM Monday, September 4, 2017.
Born June 27, 1922, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Daniel and Mary Devine Hartley. On December 27, 1946, she married Roy Allen Gillette in Davenport, IA.
Mary was a homemaker.
She spent her time volunteering in many church functions and supported the hospital cancer units by crocheting lap quilts and hats. She sang in the church choir, as music was a very important part of her life. She also enjoyed quilting and spending time in her workshop creating beautiful crafts.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Gillette; one daughter, Linda Gillette Hoffman-Lorimer; eight grandchildren, Colin Gillette, Aaron Gillette, Emily Gillette Martinez, David Gillette, Mark Hoffman, Greg Hoffman, Mary Amanda Tratchel McGraw, Jacquelyn Tratchel Marimion; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gillette Hoffman, one brother, and six sisters.

The funeral service for Mrs. Gillette will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 11, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
A time of food and fellowship will be held at West Avenue Baptist Church following the service.
A memorial has been established for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots.
