Ronald E. Hayes

Ronald Eugene Hayes, 82, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 10th, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 pm Wednesday, Sept. 13th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Memorial services will be held at 11 am Thursday, September 14th at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be presented. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport at 10:15 am for procession onto the Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Hayes was born in1934 in Muscatine, Iowa to Arthur and Winifred Hayes. He served with the Seabees of the U.S. Navy for eight years, having tours in Barbados and Gran Turks. On June 21, 1969, he married Mariann Jensen in Nashua, Iowa. For 42 years, he worked as a telephone repairman, splicer and testboard technician with Century Link. Prior to Century Link, he had worked with NW Bell, US. West and Quest. He enjoyed making candles, loved puzzles, was the best at KENO, loved working in his yard and playing with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife Mariann; children Brian (Yer) Robertson, Robin (Pat) Brown, Brad (Lora) Hayes, Tracy (Charles) Brown and Darin (Pam) Robertson; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Kim (Rich) Riech; and brother Arthur (Joyce) Hayes.
