Shirley M. Skinner, 84, of Bettendorf passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 in the comfort of her own home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday at the mortuary. Shirley was born June 10, 1933 in Ottumwa, IA to James and Bertha (Smith) Benedict. She was united in marriage to Raymond R. Skinner on June 25, 1949 in Ottumwa, IA. He preceded her in death.
Shirley retired from the post office after many years of service. She enjoyed playing bingo and gambling on the riverboat. In her younger years she enjoyed her time on a bowling league. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Brenda (Larry) Slagel, Waco, TX, Ray (Chris) Skinner, Rock Island, Randy Skinner, Bettendorf, Mark (Dana) Skinner, Davenport and Kirk (Sandy) Skinner, Davenport; twenty-four grandchildren thirty-five great grandchildren, one great great grandchildren, two sister, Joyce (Dick) Litch and Marilyn Pickrell, both from Ottumwa and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond and son, Mike.
