Glenn Frederick Miller

North English-Glenn F. Miller was born February 1, 1928, in rural Millersburg, to Fred and Gail (Wyant) Miller and received his education in Millersburg schools. He served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Greenland. On November 24, 1949, Glenn married Joan Pontzius in Cairo, Iowa. A lifelong resident of Iowa County, Glenn farmed in the North English area. He attended the Church of the Nazarene, was a member of the Marengo Historical Society, volunteered for Gritter Creek school and enjoyed hunting. Glenn died on Friday, September 15, 2017, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 89. Survivors include his wife: Joan; daughter: JoGlenna Goodman and husband Ron Halblom of Grinnell; two grandchildren: Ryan (Anita) Goodman of Taylors, South Carolina and Renee (John) Stadnick of Pflugerville, Texas; six great grandchildren: Elaina and Zachary Goodman and Emma, Ava, Noah and Jonah Stadnick; two step grandchildren: James Halblom and Joyce Halblom, both of Grinnell; sister-in-law: Bonnie (Ivan) Jern of Woodstock, Georgia and brother-in-law: Pat (Nobuko) Pontzius of Marysville, Ohio. : Gene Goodman and five brothers-in-law. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Powell Funeral Home in North English, with Rev. Eddie Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
