Joe is survived by his wife Bonnie of Bondurant; his son, Stephen (Jeanie) Birchmier of Maxwell; his daughters: Catherine (Gary) Tichenor of Nevada, Teresa (Ted) Stoneberg of Arcadia, WI, Mary Beth (Rod) Maxwell of Maxwell and Diana (Michael) Holl of Nevada; his brothers: James (Mary Ida) Birchmier of Collins, Lawrence (Ginie) Birchmier of Mitchellville; 11 grandchildren: Bill Stoneberg, Shain (Kelley) Birchmier, Jason (Kerri) Maxwell, Tami (Mike) Hohmann, Shawna (Nate) Forsyth, Joe (Lynn) Stoneberg, Alisa Maxwell and fiancé Robert Woodward, Erin (Joe) Mousel, Justin Holl, John (Abby) Maxwell and Nate Holl; along with 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Albert Lee Birchmier, sister-in-law, Carol Birchmier; and a son-in-law, Richard Applegate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colo with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Colo.
