Mary Ramona "Boogie" Martinez Venzor entered into eternal life on Friday, September 15th, 2017 as she was surrounded by her family. She was born on July 7, 1941 in Platteville to Maura (Salinas) and Jose Martinez. Ramona had 10 siblings; Helen Espinosa, Joe Martinez, Henry Martinez and Gloria Delgado. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Raymond Martinez, Larry Martinez, Elena Martinez, Gloria Martinez, Nellie Rios, Lupe Reyes, granddaughter Valeria Venzor, daughter-in-law, Lisa Montoya and unborn great-grandson Bonifaceo Mateo Montoya.
In childhood, Ramona was introduced to the Catholic faith. She continued her walk with God throughout her life and remained steadfast in her faith until her last breath.
Ramona grew up in Fort Lupton and moved to Brighton in 1969. Her roots were strong in both Brighton and Fort Lupton as her extended family resided in and around both cities.
Ramona married John Montoya Sr. in 1962. This union produced four children John Jr. (Elisabeth), Kenny (Sheri), Steve (Stephanie) and Gina Von Ah (Tim). Her children were the light of her life. Ramona decided to continu...[more]
continue her education and become a school teacher. She put herself through college while raising her family. She juggled being a mother, wife and attended college all with ease.
After graduating college in 1982, she started teaching 2nd grade at Twombly Elementary and continued teaching until she retired in 2004 to help her son raise four of her grandchildren after her daughter-in-law passed away. She had such a love for children and embraced all as if they were her own. Later in life she enjoyed teaching ESL to adult students at AIMS Community College.
Ramona helped resurrect La Estrellita Mexican Restaurant in Brighton in 1986. She was the matriarch of La Estrellita and remained invested in the restaurant until her passing.
Ramona married the love of her life, Manuel Venzor, September 7, 2001. Manuel brought to this union two children that Ramona embraced with open arms, Luis Venzor (Janeth), and Kenia Venzor Ramona loved her life with Manuel. They loved going camping, going for Sunday drives, hanging out by a campfire and just being together.
As her children grew and got married Ramona was blessed with 18 grandchildren; Shanice, Kenny Jr, Mathew, Mason, Alex, Hannah, Justin, Tyler, Anthony, Maura, Emma, Kenna, Cesar, Fernando, Ximena, Emiliano,Valeria and Ariana.
She and Manuel loved watching the grandchildren grow and learn. She loved babysitting all of her grandchildren.
When asking her children about memories of their mom the following came to light:
She was born to be a mother to all children.
She loved colors, lots and lots of colors.
She loved Novellas.
She loved to write.
She was very organized.
She loved playing Mexican music in the kitchen while cooking.
She loved to dance.
She loved cooking breakfast for anyone and everyone.
She loved her eggs.
She loved movies.
She loved doves.
She loved Easter lilies.
She loved white cake and white frosting.
She made the best albondigas, red chile, green chile, potato salad, stuffing, tortillas, chorizo, potatoes, tamales, and homemade bread.
Above all she loved her life and her family.
