Doyle Edward Bailey, age 94 of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Doyle was born on September 29, 1922 in Wayne County, Iowa, the son of Frank and Eva (Halfhill) Bailey. He graduated from Cincinnati High School with the class of 1941. He continued his education at Centerville Community College. On February 22, 1943, he joined the United States Army. During World War II, he served in England. He was honorably discharged on December 6, 1945. After his military service, he relocated to Rockford, Illinois.
On January 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Frances Fadiga in Rockford, Illinois. From this union, three children were born, Michael, Mindy, and Missy. In 1954, the couple moved back to Appanoose County, and bought a farm near Unionville, Iowa. They raised milk cows, pigs, chickens and row crop. Doyle retired from farming at the age of 65. At this time, he sold the farm and Frances and Doyle moved to Centerville.

He was a long time member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren in Unionville, Iowa. He was also a member of the Unionville, Iowa American Legion Post #407 for 63 years. He also enjoyed attending the Neighborhood CB Club, where the group would have monthly dinners.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Frances Bailey of Centerville; his children, Michael Bailey of Wayland, Iowa, Mindy (Ray) Payne of Centerville, Iowa, and Missy (James) Dawson of Huntsville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Seth Dawson of Hunstville, Missouri and Brynn (Trevor) Hayes of Huntsville, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Kenzie, Kylee, Karissa and Jordyn; a sister, Aileen Bevan of Loves Park, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Roberta Fadiga, Gretchen Fadiga, and Barbara Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Eva Bailey; and four siblings, Gail Bailey, Lucille Thatcher, Glen Bailey and Merle Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Fairview Church of the Brethren in Unionville, Iowa. Interment will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery with military rites. A visitation will take place from 5-7PM, Monday, September 25, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville.
