Eleanor I. "Ellie" Blizek, 76, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, November 3, 2010, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded and there is no public visitation. A private burial will be held from the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Eleanor Irene Clark was born near Elwood, Iowa at her grandparents home on February 24, 1934 to Orville and Irma (Berner) Clark. She graduate from Delmar High School in 1951. She married Keith Blizek in Dubuque, Iowa on April 18, 1957. They divorced in 1966. Before her marriage she worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa. She later worked at Eagle Signal Co. and Hull Photography in Davenport. She retired from the R H Donnelly Co. after working many years as a sales representative for the Yellow Pages in the Quad Cities and other Illinois areas. She received numerous awards for sales and was named the Outstanding Sales Person in her district in 1982. Following her retirement she moved to Maquoketa in 1992. ral and Greenhouse for several years. She loved her home on South 2nd Street and planned and carried out many home improvement projects. She liked to travel, play cards, do craftwork and garden. She was known for her "green thumb" and spent many hours in her yard and propagating house plants for her annual plant sales. She was a member of the Delmar United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Maquoketa Garden Club and Maquoketa Mother's Club. Prior to moving to Crestridge in August of 2010, she had lived at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa for three years. "Ellie" is survived by her children, Joni (Paul) Feller of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Derek (Denise) Blizek of Davenport, IA; 2 step-grandchildren, Byron and Tori Blackwell of Davenport, IA; 1 step-great-grandchild; sisters, Juanita (Leonard) Ritter of Bloomington, MN, and Barbara (Wayne) Mayberry of Maquoketa, IA; a brother, Frank (Cathy) Clark of Eugene, OR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Delmar Methodist Church or Hospice of Jackson County.
