Leroy John Timmerman, 98, formerly of Burlington, died at 4:40 PM Friday, September 22, 2017, at his home in West Jordan, Utah.
Born February 21, 1919, in Mediapolis, IA, he was the son of John T. and Clara Margaret Buescher Timmerman. On June 20, 1947, he married Priscilla Lou Middleman in Las Vegas, NV. After being married almost 50 years she passed away on December 21, 1996. After his wife's death he moved back to Burlington from 1997-2010. He then moved to Utah until his passing away.
He attended school in the Burlington System and Burlington Community College. He participated in sports in school, was captain of the 1941 college football team and received a scholarship.
Leroy retired from Case Corporation in 1981 after 28 years with Case. He moved to Green Valley, Arizona where he was a Deputy with the Pima County Sherrif's Department for ten years.
He served his country in World War Two for 4 1/2 years in the Army/Air Force in Hawaii after which he finished college at Long Beach State in Engineering.

Survivors include one daughter, Nanette (Greg) Rigby of West Jordan, UT; three grandsons, Jamie Throckmorton, David (Camille) Baker, Michael (Katie) Rigby; one step-granddaughter, Heather Rigby; two great-grandchildren, William and Melodee and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, one daughter, Priscilla Ann; one granddaughter, Cherish; four sisters, Edna Layton, Doris Timmerman, Frances McDonald and Margaret (Jean) Desmond two brothers, James Riepe and Howard Timmerman.
The funeral service for Mr. Timmerman will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Kevin Rackham. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
