Norma Mae Hunger, 101, of Mt. Union, died September 28, 2017 at the McCreedy Home in Washington. She was born May 30, 1916 in Yarmouth, Iowa to Fred and Ora Kolkman Knox. In 1940 she was engaged to Jesse Ryman; he was killed in 1943 while serving in the Navy. On February 23, 1946 she married Arnold W. Hunger in Burlington. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1990.
She was a 1933 graduate of Mt. Union High School. Norma was a farm wife and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. Norma and Arnold liked to travel and hosted several foreign students. She was a member of PEO and the Winfield Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one son, Ned (Mary) Hunger, Washington and one daughter, Arnette Hunger, Mt. Union. She has six grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Her parents and two sisters; Vera Wollam and Edna Knox preceded her in death.
The funeral service for Mrs. Norma Hunger will be at 2:00 Monday, October 2, at Elliott Chapel, New London. Rev. Dottie Halverson will officiate.
