Kenneth Fluckey, 87, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, formerly of Afton, passed away at his home on September 26, 2017.
Celebration of Life Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Afton United Methodist Church. Pastor Joel Sutton and Rev. Jim Morris will officiate the service. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Following the service, there will be a visitation with lunch served at the church. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Kenneth D. Fluckey was born at home on August 1, 1930 in Union County to Harley and Floy (Adams) Fluckey. Kenneth started school in a one room country school and graduated from Afton High School in 1948. Kenneth started farming after high school and continued farming until 1973. On September 10, 1950 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Stephens. They were married for 67 years. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Constance Dianne, Patricia Janette and Kenneth Dean, Jr.

Luther at Case Farm Equipment, school bus driver and owned Ken's Clothing. After leaving the farm, he worked for the construction company that built the Afton Care Center. Ken was involved in the construction of the Green Valley AEA, Creston Executive Apartments and many homes in the area. In 1978 Ken started working for Case Power and Equipment as their parts and service manager.
Ken served on the Afton Creamery, Union County Fair and the Afton Care Center Boards of Directors. He also volunteered on the Afton Fire Department and was a member of the Union County Sheriff's Posse. In his younger years, Ken was an award winning Trap shooter and was invited to try out for the US Olympic Trap Shooting team.
Kenneth and Evelyn moved to Bella Vista, AR in 1988 and began a new career as a Real Estate Broker. Upon retirement Ken enjoyed spending many hours making furniture in his wood working shop at home.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, sister & brother-in-law Ilene & Jim Hohneke, brother & sister-in-law Lyle & Esther Fluckey, brother-in-law Ivan Stephens, brother in law Elmer Johnson and sister-in-law Pat Stephens.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, daughters Connie (Alan) Gardner, Janette (Jerry) Harper and son Dean; six grandchildren Julie (Kevin) Kvasnicka, Matt Gardner, Jenny (Jimmy) Langley, Cody (Ginger) Harper, Aly and Shannon Fluckey; seven great grandchildren Ethan Kvasnicka, Olivia Baalman, Eli and Sophia Gardner, Ryan and Chris (Taylor) Langley and Jade Harper; sisters-in-law Irene (Morris) Conklin, Carol Johnson, Larraine (Dick) Hartman, Jane Scott and brother-in-law Allen Stephens; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
