y 500, Hand and Foot, Pitch, and Pinochle, and looked forward to joining others at neighborhood card club gatherings. He was also a skilled woodworker. Gib and Helen enjoyed camping and traveling south for the winter with their good friends. Most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Helen Schoenbohm of Atlantic; children, Harold Schoenbohm of Council Bluffs, Sandra Bowers of Wichita, Kansas, and Nedra (Delbert) Elmquist of Hamlin; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Henkenius of Cumberland; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennie Schoenbohm; grandson, Russell Bowers; his parents, Hajo and Elise; daughter-in-law, Mary Schoenbohm; son-in-law, Arnold Edwards; sisters, Louise Kloppenburg, Viola Dreager, Ruby Schoenbohm, and Hazel Schreiner; brothers-in-law, Allen Spies and Durward Spies.
Open visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 6th at Roland Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at First Lutheran Church, south of Wiota.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, south of Wiota, with Pastor Mike Bodkins officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, south of Wiota.
Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church or Heritage House.
