ng his sons play for Clinton High) drew him into volunteering to be on the "chain gang" for Clinton High where he was a football game fixture for many seasons.
Larry worked in construction as a carpenter for most of his life starting with Raymond Waite back in 1955. He worked for O. Jorgensen Construction, and Ringland/Johnson Construction. He was also a job superintendent for S.S. Kresge Corp. building K-Marts around the Midwest. Larry later worked as a private contractor in Clinton, pouring concrete, building additions and remodeling homes. He was an extremely gifted man in the building trades.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He truly enjoyed his German Shorthair dogs, "Buckshot," and later, "B.J." who were constant companions in the pick-up truck and would accompany him to the job sites. He took many fishing trips to Minnesota (and Canada) but always preferred going with family to Lake Winnibigoshish, in northern Minnesota. Another annual tradition was to visit the Ottaway family in Northeast Iowa, to deer hunt (or trout fish!).
Larry was a Past Master of Lyons Lodge #93. He was a member of Lyons United Methodist Church and enjoyed his time singing in the choir, sometimes doing a solo in his earlier years. He loved to play golf and was a member of Fulton Country Club for many years as well as the Eagles Club. He had a great sense of humor and was a very funny guy who knew how to enjoy life. He loved talking to people over a few beers and had many friends.
Larry is survived by his son Gregg (Sarah) Lind, of Clinton, and Laurie Boardsen, of Moberly, Missouri, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
