Ferne C. Lockwood

Ferne C. Lockwood, 83, of Wyoming, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from the Calvary Baptist Church in Onslow, Iowa, with Pastor David McIntosh officiating. There is no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa is in charge of the arrangements. Ferne C. Bearinger was born on March 28, 1927 on a farm in Monmouth, Iowa, to Joseph Benjamin and Bertha Mae (Taylor) Bearinger. She was a 1945 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. She married James T. "Jim" Lockwood on February 25, 1947 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2007. Ferne was a homemaker and had been an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Onslow. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, making dolls and teddy bears. Ferne is survived by her children, Alan (Carol) Lockwood of Litchfield, AZ, and Linda (Lester) Hillier of Coal Valley, IL; 4 grandchildren, Jim C.
