Howard Lyle

Howard Ervin Lyle was born on November 17, 1915, in Northstar Township, Brown County, Minnesota to the late John Monroe and Mary Ella (Wilson) Lyle. He received his education in country school in the Springfield, Minnesota area. On November 18, 1939, Howard was united in marriage to Loretta Ethelynne Dehmlow. This marriage was blessed with three children, Patricia, Stephen and Douglas. After marriage, Howard and Loretta lived in various places in Minnesota including Windom, Springfield and Sanborn. For seventy years, Howard was the owner/operator of Hilltop Auto Wrecking in Sanborn along with having salvage yards in Windom and Springfield in his earlier years. On June 21, 1983, Loretta passed away in Rochester, Minnesota. On April 14, 1984, Howard was united in marriage to Joyce Tjossem. They lived in Sanborn before later moving to Windom. Recently, Howard's health began to decline and he became a resident of the Garnette Gardens Care Suites in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Howard will be remembered for many things in life including his love of hunting with his sons, golfing, hunting for golf balls and most of all, spending time with his family. Howard is survived by his wife, Joyce Lyle of Mountain Lake; three children Patricia Rohlik and her husband, Russell, of Springfield; Stephen Lyle and his wife, Jody, of Northrop; Douglas Lyle of Fairmont; one step-son, James Tjossem and his wife, Marge, of North Branch; 9 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, George "Bud" Lyle of Hannibal, MO; and nieces and nephews. Howard is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loretta Lyle; one granddaughter, Angela Rohlik (Oct. 12, 1972) ; two brothers, Oliver and Grover Lyle; four sisters, Pauline, Lillian, Mabel and Violet.
