Mrs. Linda Kay Johnson, 62, of New London, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City. Mrs. Johnson was born September 5, 1948 in Kahoka, Missouri, the daughter of Howard and Lucille Anders Mitchell. She married Joe Blodgett and they divorced. On January 5, 1980 she married David "Sarge" Johnson in Burlington She was a homemaker and also worked as an inspector at IAAP, enjoyed selling Avon, and was a waitress and cook at various restaurants. She enjoyed playing card games on the computer and especially pinochle, fishing with her grandsons, crossword puzzles, and cooking for her family every Sunday. She was a Kahoka High School graduate and a member of the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ in Burlington. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband; one son, David "Butch" Johnson of West Point; one daughter, Michele (David) Shadle of Morning Sun; four grandsons, Michael Johnson, John Christe, Jared and Dalton Shadle; two sisters, Mary Mitchell Bayne of New London and Karen (Dan) Hobbs of Kahoka, MO. l Service for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 5 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Dan Buck will officiate. Inurnment of her cremains will be held at a later date. Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM on Saturday and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established.
