Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Rudolph Andrew Elbert was born December 26, 1915 in Whittemore, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Johanna (Buck) Elbert. He grew up in Whittemore where he attended country school through the 8th grade. After his schooling he worked for different farmers in the area until he entered the service. After being honorably discharged from the service in 1945, he returned to work on various farms in the area. On January 3, 1946, Rudolph was united in marriage to Ella Frances Sankey at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, Iowa. After their marriage Rudolph worked on farms in Titonka, Eagle Grove and Corwith. In 1971 the couple moved to Wesley when Rudolph was working for Marting Manufacturing in Britt, Iowa. He continued working there for eight years, retiring in 1979. After his retirement Rudolph did a lot of gardening, mowing lawns and tilling gardens until his health began to fail two years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the American Legion Andrews Post #428 of Wesley, Iowa. Rudolph died on Monday, December 8, 2003 at the Algona Manor Care Center at the age of 87. Also surviving are brothers and sisters: Anthony Elbert of Algona, Iowa; John Elbert of Algona, Iowa; Carmella and Ray Kline of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Charles and Sharon Elbert of Mason City, Iowa; Henry and Lynn Elbert of Algona, Iowa, and Rosella Ryg of Algona, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Elbert; sisters Luella Wagner, Orletha Elbert and Anna Mae Elbert.
