Donald Edward Will was born on December 4, 1924, in Algona, Iowa to Walter and Cora (Lenz) Will. Don graduated from Algona High School in 1942 then served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marines. Following his discharge in 1946, Don returned to Algona where he was a meat cutter at Sorenson Grocery. On January 9, 1949, he married Virginia Strayer in Algona. The couple moved to Coalville, Iowa in 1953 and lived there until moving to Renwick in 1962. They owned and operated the Renwick Grocery for nine years. In 1974, the couple moved to Hardy where they owned and operated the locker. In 1991, Don and Virginia built a new home and moved to Loon Lake, near Jackson, Minnesota. In 1995, they moved to Algona. While living in Hardy and Renwick, Don served on the town council, the church council and was water commissioner in Hardy. Don enjoyed fishing, golfing and woodworking. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Don became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Algona in October 2003 and died there on Monday evening, February 9, 2004 at the age of 79. John of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Donna Dittbrenner and husband Duane of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Kathryn Gigg and husband Michael of Peyton, Colorado and Janine Kraft of Renwick, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Rita Stratton and husband Frank of Alexandria, Minnesota; Ruth Johnson of Sibley, Iowa; Barbara Oppold of Avon Park, Florida and one brother Wayne Will and wife Pat of Madison Lake, Minnesota and sister-in-law Thelma Will of Algona. Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Adams, an infant sister, and brother James Will and granddaughter Kristy Hood.
