Arthur Edward Droessler was born January 23, 1919, in Bancroft, son of Edward A. and Theresa Rose (Derner) Droessler. Art grew up in Bancroft and graduated from St. John's Catholic High School. Art married Mary Frances Scholtes on April 7, 1945, at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. After their marriage, they farmed Mary's family farm near Lakota until moving into Bancroft in 1987. Art also sold DeKalb seed corn from the early 1970's into the mid 1980's. He enjoyed dancing and listening to old time music, reading, traveling, gardening, and playing cards. He was a long time member of the Father Hunt Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Arthur E. Droessler died Monday, August 9, 2004, at his residence in Bancroft. He was 85.
He is survived by eight children: Vernon Droessler and wife Judy, of Alberta, Canada, Arlene Haglund and husband John, of Fairmont, MN, Kenneth Droessler, of Lakota, Marilyn Meyer and husband Eldon, of Algona, Roger Droessler, Oxnard, CA, Eldon Droessler and wife Lenore, of Eldora, Ivan Droessler and wife Mary, of Storm Lake, and Linda Droessler with friend LeRoy Sukalski and family of Bancroft. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary on February 8, 1998; and five brothers and sisters, Frank Droessler, John V. Droessler, Mary Tigges, Joe Droessler, and Leona Hutchinson.
