Marlyn Eugene Franzen was born April 10, 1932 at Titonka, Iowa to Dick and Rosa (Pommer) Franzen. He attended German Valley Country School and graduated from Titonka High School in 1949.
Marlyn farmed with his father until entering the United States Army and serving from 1953 - 1955. Upon his discharge, Marlyn returned to Titonka and farmed with his father until his marriage to Arlene Jansen in June, 1963. The couple then purchased a farm. Marlyn farmed until his retirement in 1997.
Marlyn was an active member of Ramsey Reformed Church at Titonka where he served in a variety of capacities. He enjoyed golf, bowling, music and woodworking but his real enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren. Marlyn was a member of the North Iowa Woodworkers and he served as a trustee for German Valley Township.
Survivors include his children; Sandy Hoskins and husband Steve of Algona; and Jim Franzen and wife Kara of Titonka.
