Anthony William "Tony" Elbert was born on March 23, 1917, at Whittemore, Iowa, to Laurence and Johanna Buck Elbert. He attended country school near Whittemore. After his schooling, Tony worked for the McEnroe Brothers on their farm. Tony served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He served in Hawaii and helped fly supplies to the outlying zones. After he returned from the service, Tony was married to Helena Lienen in Algona on October 4, 1950. Tony worked at the Dick Reising Elevator in Algona and at the Elevator in Irvington. He then worked for Marlow Fiberglass Industries in Algona and Swea City, Iowa. He delivered fiberglass bodies all over the Midwest. Tony's wife, Helena preceded him in death on February 25, 1985. Tony retired in the late 1980's and moved to the Hillcrest Trailer Court. Tony was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. He was also a member of the Algona VFW Post #2541 and the Seely-Walsh American Legion Post #425 in Whittemore, Iowa. He was 87. Tony is survived by 3 brothers, John Elbert, Algona, Iowa, Henry Elbert and wife, Lynnette, Algona, Iowa, Charles Elbert and wife, Sharon, Mason City, Iowa, 2 sisters, Carmella Kline and husband, Ray, Iowa Falls, Iowa, Rosella Ryg, Algona, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helena, his stillborn son, Lawrence, 2 brothers, Robert and Rudolph Elbert and his sister, Luella Wagner.
